Lions, Tigers, and .....PIGS???? Oh My!

I am trying to catch up on posting since the next few weeks are going to be crazy!

With our time here in NC coming to an end, we have decided to finally do some of the things we wanted to take advantage of a long time ago. A couple of weeks ago we finally made it to the Norfolk Zoo. It is the perfect size zoo for younger kids. Not too big that you have to stay there all day to see everything (if your kid will stay all day that is...) and not too small to not have all the normal zoo animals. We went with Karin, Cille, Joanne, Ali, and Alec. We were hoping it wouldn't be too busy since all the kids are still in school. Uh, not such luck. I think every school in NC and VA decided that day would be a perfect day for a Zoo field trip. It wasn't too bad, once we got past the line to buy tickets. We got right on the train, knowing there would be a line there for sure once everyone got in. The kids had a great time touring the zoo by train. Then we were off on foot to see all the animals. There were all of the "usuals"-lions, giraffes, pandas, ostrich, monkeys, etc. And some "unusual to the zoo"--pig, donkey, hairy mountain goat (with really bad teeth!), emu's. The kids had a blast. After we saw pretty much everything, we went the park by the zoo and had a nice picnic lunch. The kids were tired, but the boys had enough stamina to play with a stick for about 30 minutes. Amazing how entertaining a stick can be so interesting! Ali was pretty bored with it, so we got them all involved in many rounds of "Ring Around the Rosey". They are all so cute together and play so nicely. Jackson and I are really going to miss our friends.

Not sure what adventures we will tackle in the next few weeks. Next week we are heading to DC for Joe to do some stuff at headquarters for two days and then we close on our new house on Friday. Then we have one week left here before Jackson and I head to Grammy and Grampy's house. The movers will be here the last few days of the month and then DC here we come! We are getting really excited about our new house and living in DC. I just wish I could wave my magic wand and have our house painted and our stuff moved in. You'd think by now we would be pros at this moving thing...but it never gets easy. Oh well...such is life!

Patiently waiting for the train

All Aboard!

Here Piggy, piggy, piggy!

Nice Llama...

Crazy furry horned mountain goat type thing
I didn't get a picture of his teeth. They were really bad!

Beautiful Red Panda! I had never seen one before.

Giraffe cooling off in the shade! Smart Guy!

Have you ever seen a giraffe trying to sit/lay down? We thought there was something wrong with him! It was wild!!

Heading out to see the rest of the elephants.

The kids loved the ball floating in the water!

A boy and his stick!

Three boys and a stick!

Ring around the rosy,

A pocket full of posies. Ashes, Ashes..

We all fall down!

Sign of a good day! Zonked!
